TOKYO — Playwright Kohei Tsuka, who created popular dramas such as ‘‘Kamata Koshinkyoku,’’ died of lung cancer at a hospital in Chiba Prefecture on Saturday, sources familiar with the matter said Monday. He was 62.
In January, Tsuka, a South Korean resident in Japan, announced that he had been diagnosed with lung cancer and was undergoing treatment. Tsuka, also a stage director and fiction writer, won the Naoki literary prize in 1982 for the novel version of ‘‘Kamata Koshinkyoku,’’ which was also made into a movie.
.....Rest In Peace.....
